Much of the South and East will see severe storms bringing with them widespread, dangerous flood risks.
A cold front is currently sweeping the nation and bringing with it a slow moving tail and disturbance, plaguing areas with continuous showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall rates anywhere from 1-3 inches per hour could be expected. Anticipated total rainfall amounts are anywhere from 3 inches to 12 inches in local areas.
Parts of the U.S. that could see the biggest impact include Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas before it moves further east Friday heading into Saturday.
The enhanced flood threats start today for much of the South – including Flash Flood threats.
Friday through Saturday will continue to give the South a run for the money with significant rain totals continuing.
Outside of flood threats – severe storm alerts continue to be issued and updated throughout the week. These spread from Texas up through the Ohio valley at this time but expect the Northeast to see some severe storms Saturday and Sunday.
