More Severe Weather On the Way

Just what we need, more severe weather after several days of tornadoes, thunderstorms and damage. But there’s more on the way before the weekend.

What’s Happening Now

The NOAA has the following alert:

  • Severe thunderstorm watch: valid until 8:00 p.m. EDT for Maryland, Washington D.C., southeastern Pennsylvania, eastern West Virginia and northern Virginia.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood warning for eastern Illinois, and there are severe thunderstorm warnings for western Kansas and the Texas panhandle.

What’s Happening Tonight

There is a risk of severe storms for a large swath of the nation into Thursday evening. Almost 20 states are included in the area under threat, which ranges from Texas and goes up into Kansas and Missouri before ranging eastward from Virginia to Vermont. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes are all possible.
