A severe storm system continues to move through the Plains today after causing flooding, school closures and more than 20 reported tornadoes. The tornadoes were reported in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Missouri.
Flash flooding in Oklahoma resulted in the closure of Interstate 40 just west of Oklahoma City. Residents are being rescued and evacuated in several towns in Oklahoma this morning.
In Missouri, cars were swept off roads due to high winds. Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, was severely damaged.
Schools in Sedgewick County, Kansas, which includes Wichita, were closed Tuesday due to flooding. Residents of New Cambria were urged to evacuate due to the risk of flooding.
In addition to reports of tornadoes in Odessa, Texas, multiple twisters were sighted in Paducah, Texas.
Residents of theses states should remain cautious and prepared, as the severe weather threat continues today.
