Yesterday, tornadoes hit the Kansas City area. As of this morning, at least a dozen people were injured and many homes were damaged or demolished.
Areas most impacted include: Linwood, Kansas – roughly 30 miles West of Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas – near the Kansas Speedway, Excelsior Springs – about 10 miles Northeast of Kansas City.
A series of tornado watches, warnings, and emergencies were issued for over 2 hours in the area.
This spring has become the most active tornado season in the US in 8 years.
Today, severe thunderstorms are expected in the East. Continuous threats of damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and flash floods are in store.
According to NOAA’s National Weather Service, areas of New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and even Maryland all have an “enhanced” risk of severe thunderstorms.
