Southern storms get heavy beginning Tuesday

Storms building in Texas will move across the southern corridor of the US this week bringing heavy rainfall across the region this week. However, it’s not all bad news as the rain will be mostly beneficial.

On Tuesday, the rain will affect southern and eastern Oklahoma, and the entirety of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

The rainfall will be heaviest north and east of Houston, as well as in southern Oklahoma, the southern half of Arkansas, throughout Louisiana, and southern Mississippi.

On Wednesday, the storms move farther east, drenching southern Tennessee, all of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, as well as southern South Carolina.

The heaviest rainfall will be along the southern portions of Alabama and Georgia, as well as the Florida Panhandle and northern Florida. The potential for flooding exists in low-lying and poor drainage locations.

Soggy week for Northwest, flooding rainfall

A line of storms will soak the Pacific Northwest this week bringing the danger of flooding and potential landslides.

Already this month, many cities in the Northwest are at above-average precipitation. Creeks and streams are currently running high, bringing the potential of overflow, while the saturated ground could lead to poor or no drainage.

On Tuesday, rain will soak the western half of Seattle, with snowfall in the west-central part of the state. The entirety of Oregon will receive rainfall, and snowfall to the West-central and northeast region of the state.

Idaho will see snowfall in the central part of the state, with rainfall to the south. Snowfall is also forecast for the Western portion of Montana along the Idaho border, as well as the southern portion of the state at the Wyoming border.

Wyoming will see snowfall in the northwest and western portions of the state. Rainfall will also make its way down to Northern California.

Another storm moves in on Wednesday affecting most of Washington, and the western half of Oregon, as well as the northernmost portion of California.

More stormy and rainy conditions arrive midweek to the northwest.
