Weather advisories including winter weather, flood, and avalanche warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service due to storm systems affecting the Northwest and the Southern states today; plus, more of today’s weather news and forecast.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter weather advisories for the states of Washington and Oregon due to a storm system currently affecting the region.
Snow levels are expected between 4000-5000 feet today, but could drop as low as 3,000 feet by tomorrow morning. The NWS also issued a wind gust alert for portions of Oregon.
In addition, the NWS is warning of “dangerous avalanche conditions” for the Cascade mountains, Mountain Hood Area, and valleys of Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
Flood advisories have also been issued by the NWS for portions of Southwest Washington, including the south Washington Coast and Willapa Hills.
Winter weather advisories also extend into central and northern Idaho, and northwestern Montana.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a number of winter weather advisories for portions of the central US including North Texas, Western Oklahoma, Western Kansas, Southeast Kansas, and central and southern Missouri.
The NWS issued a winter storm warning for Northwest Oklahoma, near the Panhandle, as well as southwestern Kansas around and near Dodge City.
Eastern and southern Texas will experience strong storms today, bringing small hail, lightning, heavy rains and high winds. Lots of water expected on roadways, affecting travel.
The fast-moving storm, moving roughly at 55 miles per hour, will continue eastward affecting other southern states throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.
