Forget what Punxsutawney Phil said, Mother Nature has other plans as a monster snowstorm has been unleashed and is marching across the US this week; plus, there’s a new addition to the employee payroll as “Parker the Snow Dog” has been elected the honorary Mayor of Georgetown.
A major snowstorm is moving across the US this week. Today the storm will extend eastward across the northwest and upper midwest, and south into portions of Utah and Colorado.
More than a foot of snow is forecast for the Cascades today.
The snowstorm will continue to move east this week, expanding into the central US and Ohio Valley tomorrow, to the Great Lakes and northeast on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, heavy snowfall is forecast for portions of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois, where Chicago could see up to 15 inches.
There will be some lingering snow and northern Idaho and Montana, with the bulk of the snowstorm over southeastern Montana, eastern Wyoming, central and northern Colorado, the southern border of North Dakota, all of South Dakota and Nebraska, as well as eastern and northern Kansas.
On Wednesday, there will be lingering snow on Wednesday and portions of the northwest and northern Rockies, while the major portion the snowstorm moves into the Great Lakes area.
The eastern side of the storm will taper off snow-wise, converting to mostly icy rain in the northeast where freezing rain warnings will likely be issued for most of New England.
There’s a new name being added to the employee payroll, as the Colorado celebrity known as “Parker the Snow Dog” has been named the new honorary Mayor of Georgetown, receiving national attention.
If you’re unaware of just who “Parker the Snow Dog” is, this lovable Bernese Mountain dog is the official mascot of the Loveland Ski Resort in Colorado.
Parker also received fame as a philanthropist for Rocky Mountain Easter Seals, is a therapy dog, part-time TV star, and is an avid fan of the Denver Broncos.
Last Wednesday night, Parker was officially sworn in by the Town Council in a meeting where Parker was informed of his duties as the new honorary mirror.
