First the good news! Super warm weather is coming this week in Florida for spring break. But the not so good news is the CDC has issued a new warning about limiting the numbers of people in gatherings amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Right as spring break arrives… Bad news arrives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), who yesterday announced a recommendation that people throughout the United States avoid gatherings and events with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks.
And if that didn’t dampen your spring break plans enough, here’s some more unfortunate news…
As the coronavirus outbreak spreads, at least seven states have ordered the closure of bars and restaurants in the list is growing.
Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, and Washington have all ordered the closure of bars and restaurants, forcing them to take strict measures aimed at limiting the spread of coronavirus.
However, restaurants are not being shut down completely. It depends on the state, but some are allowing take-out and delivery, and/or, limiting the number of diners allowed at one time.
In some states, this action is extending to gyms and entertainment venues.
All states are allowing grocery stores to remain open.
Beginning today, Pennsylvania has ordered the closure of dining facilities for 14 days.
Massachusetts will be banning gatherings of over 25 people, and banning of on-premises eating and drinking and all restaurants and bars, only allowing food take-out or delivery.
Starbucks will be shifting to a “to go” model, closing all café and patio seating for at least two weeks.
Chick-fil-A also announced it is closing its dining room seating.
For some people, the closure of bars is giving them the opportunity to pursue sobriety and use this time to consider treatment at inpatient alcohol rehab centers.
Coronavirus has now been confirmed in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, with at least 3485 cases according to the CDC. There have been at least 65 deaths so far.
The only state that currently has no confirmed cases of the coronavirus is West Virginia.
You can’t do much better than Florida this week for spring break where temperatures are forecast to be in the upper 80s all week and near 90 degrees today.
Throughout the week, the forecast for Central Florida is mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. In fact, the entire Gulf Coast is looking good this week, with a forecast of above-average temperatures, bringing warm beach conditions from Texas to Florida.
