A slow-moving system will bring more flooding to parts of the eastern US today, as portions of the Ohio Valley and South still struggle to recover from yesterday’s deluge and extreme weather that spawned tornadoes in several places.

Flooding in Ohio Valley and East, warnings, and watches in effect

Monday brought flooding to parts of the Midwest, Ohio Valley, and the eastern US. If there was one crucial thing to have yesterday, it was a cellphone. The deluge prompted water rescues.

On Tuesday, in Chicago, a new record was set for the wettest May of all time for the third consecutive year. Also in the upper Midwest, a Lakeshore flood warning for Lake Erie remains in effect. In the mid-South, flooding prompted several crashes and highways to be shut down.

In the East, even though tropical storm Arthur is moving offshore, another slow-moving system will continue to bring strong showers, as well as isolated strong storms, that may lead to flooding for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tornadoes from East to West

Tornadoes struck in various places across the US on Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado in Madison County, Ohio on Monday. To the west, a rare funnel cloud was spotted and photographed in Northern California near Lone.

In Louisiana, one person was killed when an EF-3 tornado struck near Church Point, Louisiana on Sunday.
