A wild day of weather with tornado damage, earthquakes, hurricanes, and multiple people injured by lightning strikes, while excessive heat and strong thunderstorms bring severe weather and potential flash flooding to the East.
At least seven people were injured by lightning in separate events on Tuesday.
A fourteen-year-old boy visiting from Texas was struck by lightning on the Beach in Siesta Key, Florida on Tuesday, 10 Tampa Bay reports. A nearby deputy ran to the scene and started administering CPR to the teen.
According to reports, the teen suffered severe injuries and is fighting for his life. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses.
In Banner Elk, North Carolina, a lightning bolt struck a tree where several people were sitting at the Wilderness Run Alpine Roller Coaster in Avery County.
Six people were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, according to county officials, WCNC reports. Several were injured and injured issued pain relief medicine. The park has now been closed.
The National Hurricane Center is watching two storms that could develop into hurricanes, one in the Atlantic and another in the Pacific.
On Wednesday morning in the central Atlantic, tropical depression 7 has formed into Tropical Storm Gonzalo, slowly moving west at 12 mph, with a sustained wind speed of 45 miles per hour.
Forecasters from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) expect the storm to increase in strength to 60 mph winds on Thursday.
By Sunday, NHC forecasters expect the storm to decrease in strength slightly, with sustained winds of 50 mph and be located in the Atlantic between Caracas and Santo Domingo, and near midnight will be moving toward the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center say Tropical Storm Douglas is on track to become the first Eastern Pacific hurricane of the season sometime on Wednesday.
The storm is expected to move into the central Pacific by the end of the week, where it could become a category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph by Thursday.
The forecasted track shows the storm moving toward Hawaii by Sunday. Forecasters say it still too early to determine whether the system will have any impact on the islands.

7.8 magnitude earthquake near Alaska
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Alaska on Tuesday. The earthquake struck 62 miles south-southeast of Perryville, Alaska at a depth of 6.2 miles. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has confirmed that there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i.
3.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Oregon
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that a quake truck near Lincoln City, Oregon, issuing a preliminary magnitude of 3.2 on Tuesday afternoon. The quake struck at a depth of over 27 miles. The epicenter was roughly a mile away from Rose Lodge, Oregon.
Daylight has revealed the damage caused by a tornado in the Village of Cadott, Wisconsin on Tuesday night. Trees were uprooted, roofs were torn off, as well as vehicles and structures damaged.
Roads were blocked and many residents were without power on Wednesday morning.
