Snow and Freezing Rain Across Nation’s Midsection and More Weather News

A large area of snowfall will occur over the country’s midsection, while a band of freezing rain will span from the center of the country to the eastern tip; plus, more of today’s weather news and forecasts.

Snowfall over the nation’s midsection

At least nine states will see snowfall today in the nation’s midsection. The heaviest snowfall is forecast over parts of western and northern Texas, while another large portion of the state will experience a wintry mix and freezing rain, with thunderstorms to the south.

Snowfall is forecast over most of Wyoming, all of Colorado, western and southern Nebraska, all of Kansas, most of Missouri, southern Iowa, as well as most of Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Snowfall to the Northwest & West

The majority of Washington and Oregon will see mixed precipitation today, with snowfall to the east.

Snow is also forecast for central and northern Idaho, western Montana, and central Utah.

Mixed precipitation, freezing rain from the Southwest to Northeast

A lengthy and wide swath of mix precipitation and freezing rain will span all the way from southeast Arizona, across the country’s midsection, northward into the Ohio Valley, and through the Northeast across the New England states extending to Maine.

The National Weather Service has forecast areas of freezing rain for portions of central and northern Texas, central and eastern Oklahoma, eastern Kansas, southern Missouri, southern Illinois, eastern Indiana, southern Ohio, northern Kentucky, northern West Virginia, as well as southwestern and northeastern Pennsylvania.
